I have had my S2 for a little over three months, and I couldn't be happier. The color, image quality, and the camera itself are all fantastic. I have tried most of the DSLRs (Canon EOS D30, D60, 10D, Sigma SD9, Nikon F100) until I found one that fit my needs. The S2 did just that. I think a lot of the problems that are carped about on DSLRs are due to the digital learning curve. People are expecting to just pick up a DSLR, and get film- quality prints right from their computer in an instant. I found at the beginning that doesn't happen. There is a period of learning of the differences between film and digital. All digital images require some degree of post-processing. (For film this comes in lab, for digital it usually comes via PS). With my first DSLR it took me a little while to get used to the uniqueness of operating with digital. Some of the issues mentioned do not pose a problem with me. I like the layout (very intuitive), and I don't have much of a battery issue (I just changed my lithiums for the first time after 1500 shots, and I use rechargable AAs!) For my studio and wedding work, I am very stisfied with the S2!
