Just got my S2 with the Tamron 28-105 lense. I seem to have a focus problem. The AF works but can't seem to get a good focused shot. Does the camera and lense have to calibrated or something? Should I be contacting Fuji?
I appreciate any help. I've been shooting with an Olympus e-10 with great results.

I too moved from Olympus E products to the S2 and initially I thought that I may have focus issues. I found out, through trial and error that the Olympus lens and chip (being a matched set) produce a very sharp image and that the S2 seems to be quite soft in comparison. The Oly lens is a very good one. My Tamron, Sigmas and Nikons are good lenses too and only after I played with sharpening did I match the results I was used too. I would encourage you to try out the different sharpening settings on the camera and to explore post sharpening with Photoshop. I find that I sharpen images in PS quite a lot for most things and the image then looks as I think it should. IMO, this is a camera that REQUIRES post processing sharpening if you choose not to do so in the sharpen settings.
There is no calibration for lenses to the camera that you can make that affect sharpness. The sharpness setting works independantly of the lens. Experiment with those settings and see if you can come up with the image you want. Try this with the camera on a tripod to eleminate the possibility of camera shake. If you have access to another lens (preferrably a prime) try that in comparison. In this way you can see if the lens is the problem. It is possible that either the lens or the camera (or both) is at fault, but many soft image issues can be positively affected by the sharpen setting and/or post processing sharpening. If you do have a defective piece it would be nice to know if it was the camera or the lens.
Best of luck.
