You read that right... I call them 'phainablabla' as I can't seem to get the name right. Or I call them 'D-Day birds' because they have white under their wings which reminds me of the invasion stripes the planes had. It's appropriate we remember the D-Day soldiers as 6/6 was the anniversary.

ANYWAY, it's a cool little black bird with hair from 'Something About Mary.' Which, if you haven't seen it, is a very silly movie.

Since he's so dark I undered the shots by -2/3 and they came out pretty well. I've got a bunch of new stuff if you guys have the time- http://www.pbase.com/azrichg/june_05

Enjoy!

Nice shots Rich! Where do you come up with these birds? We don't have them here, and I haven't seen these any where else either. Guess I need to get out more, eh? :)

Thanx guys.

Dave, according to my Stoke's guide they only go up to just north of mid-california. So if you're gonna get out, you'll have to head south to see these guys :) The former AZ Game & Fish guy at work says they're related to Waxwings I think. That may be why they're on the previous page in the book. These guys are only 7" head to tail. My next goal is to get a female, they're gray and black. That'll have to wait until next week.

I wonder if I missed the waxwings this year :(
