Gee they don't have to be so upset...I'm sure Nikon would sell them one too

Ha! You know Bjorn Rorslett actually recieved death threats after his first review of the D2X... buyers remorse at it's worst.
Thanks Auminer, I'm rather fond of this place.

I don't have a problem with either one or that review myself. It's all relative. DPreviews reviews are pretty accurate most of the time. But, I think the noise issue is going to be like the film type controversy like some people liking Fuji color better than Kodak Color. Even though I just bought both Mark II's a few months ago, I think the D2x still has some good points. Like if you're all Nikon now, you don't have to buy new lenses.
The D2x is a capable camera. I prefer what I percieve to be a smoother image though. My preference, I'm not forcing it on anyone.

Luckily some of us got permission to buy new gear!

This review is causing quite a ruckus among the canon faithful.
why?
Im really happy the D2x is that good. Now there is hope that the 1Ds / 1Ds mk2 will be lowered in price from the $8,000 it has been for the past few years.
The D2x is awesome.
BUT once you use a larger sensor DSLR theres no comparison.
I just love the shallower DOF capability of the larger sensored cameras.
Using a 50mm lens like it was designed to is MUCH better than using a 30-35mm as a substitute.
Portraits just arent the same.
Just like using a 90mm lens on a 6x7 produces a whole different look.

I agree with you in theory Sneaky but don't you think we're at the end of the line so to speak with the 35mm format? I mean, it seems most manufacturers are digging in to the smaller sensor format and designing new lens systems for them instead of launching full 35mm sized DSLRs. I think that the prevailing thought is that somewhere along the way no one will have started out with film and so wouldn't have an arsenel of 35mm format lenses to drive camera body sales.
I could be wrong, I usually am in guessing games; but I think full frame 35mm digital is on the way out. Maybe a high end will always be available for the serious pro as an $8000 price tag suggests but for the rest of the world, especially new photographers just starting out in photography, I think they'll become accustomed to the smaller format and will build their lens assortment on purpose-built lenses made for the smaller sensors.
Any other wild guesses out there?

Mike, definately. Smaller sensor has been and will be THE standard for lower and mid-range and even some high nd DSLR's for years.
The 4/3's system is great, it was just launched a little ahead of its time. Soon sensor/processing technology will allow great resolution and nois eperformance on the smaller chips. Up to a point of course.
I guess my work has taken myself into the top end of equipment so I definately dont represent the majority of DSLR users.
