Hi friends,
I have one question about energy. Can I clean the CCD using the AA and CR123 bateries or I "must" buy an adaptator as recomended.
Why is this?.
Thanks.
Best.

It will work - the reason they recommend the adapter is in case the batteries fail while you're in the middle of it.

It's going to depend on how much fiddling you have to do in the cleaning process. A full set of batteries will probably keep the mirror locked up for ten minutes or so, based on an impromptu test i did. The problem is that if you get busy trying to ferret out that last little piece of dust you may forget time, and if you have something down inside when the batteries finally give out, there will be a collision between the mirror and that something.
I use a Quantum 2x2 pack now, and with that I can clean the CCD no matter how long it takes!

AC is highly recommended. Try doing it with you batteries, chances are it won't even open because of your current battery status!
So yes, you can clean te CCD with full batteries, but can you take the chance?....

I am not an expert in electronics.
It seems to me, that the sensor would be electrically charged (by the batteries) while it is open, effectively making an exposure. I have read that this electrical charge actually will attract dust to it, defeating the purpose of cleaning it. Using the AC adapter, and the peculiar button combination to open the shutter, allows cleaning of the sensor without the sensor being charged, and eliminates the risk of early close down.
O Brother, if the battery-powered shutter closes while you have your fingers and cleaning swab in there! You WILL ruin the shutter, and possibly the sensor and maybe the mirror mechanism.
I wouldn't trust the battery level indicators for anything. It can easily take 10 minutes or more to really clean the sensor.
Are you sure that saving the money on the AC adapter is worth this huge risk?

But the best procedure is giving the S2 to Fujifilm in order to clean it, and more expensive of course.
Best.

Don't know about Spain, but I wouldn't risk sending my S2 with the Dutch Postal Services. I Guess I would have to drive to Fuji...
