I mean real bugs of course, not "problem/bugs" :)

The only two lenses make sense to use with the D2x now: 105/2.8 and 200/4.
Both deliver superior resolution which in tern only the D2x is capable of rendering with its super-sensor.
ISO limit is 200. ISO100/140 recommended :)

All shot with 105/2.8 AF-D Micro-Nikkor (best f/16 stop, though shallow DOF),
SB-800 flash,
M mode,
1/200-250 shutter speed,
NEF processed in RAW Shooter.

 Igor your in such terrible trouble! I know you do in fact know I do NOT like bugs! Here you go pulling an "Andy" (hehe that's what I'm gonna call it now  ) and posting a pic that I can't resist commenting on SHEESH!!! :D

I have to admit it I really like the bees! Wonderful work :)

Darn things have flown down my shirt and stung me before I hate the little things!

Melody, I hope the sting didn't hurt much :) here are a few more bees to finish up the work :D

Igor,

How are you able to get so close without disturbing these bees and having them fly away or chase you?? Great shots!

Thanks Lockett. Experience and patience are the keys
Most Bugs react to a sudden move only. If you close in slowly they don't care. 105/2.8 has too close focusing distance unfortunately , but if you take your time, you can get this close.

Thanks Steve, skill is something anyone can obtain (unlike gift/genious), just practice a lot :)

I have teh 105/2.8 Nikkor lens .... I cannot replicate this level of sharpness on ANY of my shots with the S2, is it camera related or something user related ???

TIA

Steve, S2 will never produce such level of detail because it has 6mp (or 9mp as someone consider :) ).
All you have to do with D2x to get sharp results is stabilize it either putting your hand on something steady or a tripod.

Igor, I'm confused. Are you suggesting that the only two lenses that are capable of being used with the D2x because of it's CCD are the 105mm f/2.8 macro and the 200mm f/4? I buy a $5000 camera body and it's only capable of taking salable photographs with two lenses because of its "super-sensor" and the sensor's resolving capablilities? Do help me along here, I'm befuddled. Seems like a lot of cash for a camera that will only handle 2 lenses with what you consider acceptable results--and, after all, you should know--you know your lenses.

Yes, of all MACRO (I repeat, MACRO) lenses I tested with D2x only these two deliver substantially greater level of detail compared to S2 and D70.
