OK - Tom's last post shamed me into it. I admit to being a happy S2 user. Gee, this feels like a 12 step program for old dektol users...Hi - my name is (your name here) and I have not used film in (some number) days.

The S2 has been a very good camera and a great educational tool. I learned more in 3 months working with the S2 than in some years when I shot film. Instant feedback, and high quality images make digital (IMHO) the only way to go in commercial jobs.

I admit I miss my meduim format gear. I don't miss film, just the feel and lenses from my MF gear. That has little to do with the S2, and a lot to do with mindset. Heck, I miss shooting with my 4 x 5, but I would rather find ways to do shots with the S2 than really go through the pain of using film again.

I have had my share of pain getting used to the camera, but I find my problems are self inflicted for the most part. the tool still exceeds me, so I have room to grow. I do now feel pretty comfortable with it, and after another 6 months I suspect I will feel even happier.

Sure there is a lot I would like to see done better, but that is true of any complex tool. Mostly I want to get better myself so I can push the tool more.

I admit to feeling a little envy at Canon full frame users, and I like the build of the Nikon D1X, but I can't say either was a better option for me. These days I don't worry much about the camera - I have a lot more issues with lenses, lighting, printing, and marketing to tink about - the camera just works too well to worry about.

Bottom line - the S2 gives me great shots out of the camera, and it light and fast to use. It offers great value for money. If I had 25,000 to spend on just my camera body I would use a DCS back on an MF system. Instead, I choose to get an S2 and use the other funds for other vital items. I think that was a good decision, and I'm glad Fuji made the camera that let me have a choice.

Photographers make images, cameras are one vital tool among many in the process. The S2 is a good tool and I am happy to use it.
