Thanks for the update - interesting that they've fixed a problem that allegedly never existed. When I got my D70 a month or so ago, I noticed that the frame counter was wrong. With a 256Mb card in, it told me I had 23 NEF shots remaining when I knew there should be about 45. It took 2 shots to move the counter by one exposure. When I contacted Nikon Uk, they told me that this was ok, and images contain varying amounts of data blah blah blah. I'm still not happy with the responses from Nikon, particularly as 2 different Service reps gave me 2 completely different (and bemusing) answers. I think I finally pi**ed them off by suggesting that as good as it was, the D70 just couldn't add up as well as the Fuji S2, which had never had a problem doing simple maths.

I've just done the update, and the D70 has obviously been doing some extra study, as it can now add up :righton:

Downloaded and installed .
New menu colour , shots available correct now , others on some forums are reporting AF speeds are faster , have'nt noticed that .
And the 5 point AF is supposed to be better now ,whatever that means , never noticed much wrong with it before.

I have been reading that the colors are different after firmware is installed. If anyone has not yet installed it, why not do some compare shots before and after outdoors and with strobe. I plan to to so over the weekend and will post if there is any significant difference.

Just did the firmware upgrade on the wife's D70.

512mb card reported 43 images left on RAW+Basic, now reports 78.
1gb card reported 87 and now reports 158. Finally, an accurate count.

Focusing? Been a while since I used this combo, but it doesn't seem like it focuses any faster with the 105 Micro on it.

Color? Took a sample shot in natural light before and after. Colors looked the same to me. Didn't have time to do a strobe test before and after though.

Think the colour refered to , is the menu , it's changed colour can't remember now what it was but it's different now and the icons look smaller .
A few on FM forum reckon the beep note has altered as well , as i've got mine turned off i can't comment .
There's enough irritations in my life without the camera nagging me as well :lol:

You're right Brian. The menu colors are different. They're Nikon Yellow now. I was going from memory from work to home on what were questionable items. Oh well, at least you know the images still look the same. haha.
