I have an S3 so thought I'd get the 800 to go with it. Does anyone know what the best setting to use, it looks to be a little more complicated than my old 28!

Hi there,

With my S3 (in wide DR mode), I use the SB-800 outdoors in TTL-BL mode and indoors with TTL mode. Sometimes indoors when I am bouncing the flash, I will use +1/3 to +1 Flash Exp. compensation (depending on the height of the ceiling I am bouncing from).

I am amazed with S3 flash performance with my SB-800 ... I have yet to "blow out" a shot like I use to with my S2. The only thing with indoor flash shots with people, I use custom WB, otherwise, caucasian skin tends to have an "orange" cast.

Hope that helps a bit.

Cheers!

Thanks for your help. I've been doing a few test shots in AA which look OK, the TTL mode tended to blow out a little but I guess I need to adjust it by -1/3 or so. I've been using Gary Fongs Lightsphear which I have so say once fitted correctly works a treat.

Here is a 'nikonian' forum about flashe, with quite a few messages (Q&A) about the SB-800:

Here's a message specific to S3 and SB-800
