Now that Nikon have added a remote release to the D70, I might be interested. Does anyone on here have experience of using the D70 with long lenses and if so, what is the battery life and focussing like when the camera has to work harder. Also, has anyone heard what the UK price is likely to be. I did find one site which quoted $899, which is only about £500.

The EL3 battery has a really long life John , because of the speed of the D70 compared to the S3 i've used it exclusivley with the Sigma 50-500 , and have taken over 300 images over a 4 week period with no battery loss , still going strong .
There is a firmware update for the D70 due out in may , which gives it some of the D70s features .

I've used the 50-500 on it as well as the 400 f2.8 (with and without a Kenko 2x TC) and it works much better than the S2 on focusing. It's slightly faster all around. The battery? Heh. You'll never want to see your AA's and 123's in the S2 again after using the D70 for a few recharges (a few recharges will get you 2500-3500 shots easy - talking 3 charges total).

My S2's really started to annoy me with the batteries after using the D70 if you couldn't tell. :)
