Well, these aren't real tests. Just some field shots. I did shoot it at a sign here at f5.6 to f13, and they all were pretty sharp. Maybe a bit sharper from 6.3 on, but still good at 5.6

the cool thing is I can darn near point it straight down and shoot stuff. Here's some examples with an occasional crop.

Granted- it's not fast or quiet, but still pretty good. Also, it's focus ring is HUGE, and there's a collar that you can twist to switch from AF to MF, which does come in handy.

It's also a HEAVY guy for it's size. A bit longer than the Tokina and Sigma (non tele-macro) versions. The filter size is 77mm, which it shares with many other lenses. That's nice. These photos were all taken at -.5 exposure, then compensated for in the RAW conversion, and some levels and mild USM. I tend to shoot at -.5 to get faster shutter speeds.

This lens makes me happy because I like to shoot stuff that's either not close (birds, animals) or real close (bugs). I just wish there was a HSM version of it. It even came with a green Sigma case.

Great shots, great lens! Looks similar to Nikkor 400/5.6. AF should be a great bonus!
