I don't think that I've seen this problem here before. Yesterday, at the wedding I photographed, I took several pictures in a row. When I looked at them on the montior on the camera, they weren't there! I saw them on the monitor as I took them, and I saw the orange light run, but then they disappeared. Anybody else have this happen? Any ideas what to do?

One of my S2s does this, and I believe it's related to a power issue that I have with this camera. It seems the frame of the camera can't support heavy lenses. The weight of the lens flexes the body while holding the s2 grip with one hand. Even then, I have to cradle the lens a certain way so that it wouldn't ERR on me. The ERR is consistent with the AA batteries being at fault ( top display ERR, back display blank). I'm sending it back to Fuji this week... I'll keep you posted.

Mike: I had this same "problem" myself, after some thought it finally dawned upon me that it was the SM card and not the CF card that I was shooting with !!!:)

NYPhotog,

Thansk. I don't think that's it. I don't have any smart media cards. I have been thinking, and it has happened on at least two different cards.

Sorry, NYCFotog, my typing tonight is not so good!

My first thought is the images are not being entirely written to the card because of weak CR123As. I have lost a shot or two here and there just before my CR123As die. Usually on the first error, I wonder if I did something wrong, then a minute later the same thing happens and I know it was the CR123As.

My second thought is that the card formatting is messed up, and the card loses track of them. I think the directory can be messed up by erasing images and / or writing to the card in the computer (accidently or on purpose). I always format the card everytime it returns to the camera, and I avoid erasing images in the camera.

My third thought is that my first thought is only half right. It might be the AAs on the brink of failure as well.

Thanks Tom,

I don't have CR123s or AAs in my camera, I power up by a Quantum 2x2. When this has happened, the power lights say I've got plenty of juice.

Like you, I always reformat my cards in my camera before I leave for the assignment. I am mystified!

I'm convinced the repair people at Fuji don't care! I got my S2 back from Fuji yesterday (pretty quick, less than a week from me shipping it) and it still has the same power problems as before. Looked at the work papers and it said that they checked it out and cleaned it. This is after I wrote a detailed message of the problem and how to reproduce the problem. I dunno, all they ever seem to do to cameras at Fuji repair is clean them... should rename themselves Fuji One-Hour Camera Wash.:D

I'm thinking of possibly sending my S2 someplace else like PhotoTech in NY, or Fuji Canada since its a canadian body.

Sorry to hear about that, snapshotmd.

I noticed something yesterday while I was shooting on a tripod with the AC adapter. I got power errors a couple of times. I wonder if the external power input jack is loose or intermittent. If it was losing contact with the power supply, but not releasing enough to let the AAs take over, the camera would think that the power was going out. I am going to watch it and keep you posted.

Mike,
Sounds like me a few months ago. I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but the problem just got worse. I've noticed the problem first on my tripod, but didn't think much of it since it cleared itself when I pressed the shutter. Now, it happens constantly. I can't mount the body on a tripod without it Err'ing and missing shots. I strongly believe the missing photos are due to power failures. It would shoot but the power outage would prevent writing to the card. In your case, the image appears on your monitor since the S2 can be setup for test shooting without recording the image.

Ken,

What kind of power supply were you using on the tripod? This camera is my "candid" camera at wedding, so i't's not on a tripod.

My camera is not set up to preview without writing to a card. I saw the problem happen last week. The image didn't even fully manifest on the monitor, but cut off berfore it was fully formed.

I don't get ERR warnings, just no picture. That's the scary part. If I don't watch and check, I could miss a shot and not know it.

I use 2000 NiMH and 123...

I think it's hard to notice the Err message during shooting. Mine appears and disappears depending on how I hold the camera.

Could the error involve the thread that goes into the camera pushing the tray up and making it lose contact with the contacts at the end of the tray? I noticed the only reason for the indentation in the tray is for the 1/4" thread from your tripod or quick release to have clearance.

Just a thought ....

Hello,everybody!
I had this problems with missing files too. Ahd I found out that it happens most of the time when I load files to comp from CF.

1. Disable function in Fuji viewer that erases files on CF after loading
2. If you shoot TIFF or JPEG and there are no files on CF (but you saw them on in-camera viewer after shooting and you KNOW that you saved them), use "Digital Image Recovery" soft (It was free) It can find images on your card even browser says that it is emty.It does not work for RAF
3. If you shoot TIFF,JPEG AND RAF, use "Easy Recovery Pro". It casts money, but it can find ANY files on your CF .
4. Always format card before shooting.
P.S. Dear Mr.Moderator this is not ad of the software just the way to resolve problem of missing files.(when I got "no files to be loaded" I was about to cry)
