Wooh,
after digging thru my dictionary I stopped today at the word "pin". A tiny word with 3 letters, a usual one for you. But with all the other added words, sometimes a direct translation is quite funny for non mothertongue people.

Let's start with my preferred toy when I was 14.

Pinball. Great pastime while growing up. Went to the local bowling alley.

Thanks Dale, Thanks Mike !

Well, I've thought, the other might also append some photos to this one ???

Pin-xxx is one, the next word in my head may be "ball + head " ......

There are so many conjunctions in the english language which might make a funny thread.

What about "under exposure" or "below horizon" ?

Usual expressions, but with a little bit of humor anybody might be able to join this funny thing... Isn't it ?

Used to play pinball at the local pool hall where I grew up. We would play so long that my mom would call up and Henrietta (it was a mom and pop operation) would just walk over and calmly unplug the pinball machine and tell us it was time to go home.

I also earned my foosball championship there.

TILT

try out the pinball in Windows XP , it's additive and free ,

so thechallenge is to put 2 or more images together to make one word which the others have to guess .?

Naughty words allowed ?

Ok, there is a difference. Pin ball machines do not use flippers. Anyone ever play the real pin ball machines? The playing surface is covered with holes with a "pin" strategically placed in front of the hole. The object of the game is to get the ball into the hole...it stays there until the game is finished. Match several balls in a line/row for a winner.

You could tactfully  nudge or bump the machine to encourage the balls to go where you wanted, but too much or repetitive action would cause the "pendulum" inside to contact a ring...TILT... right Brian?

This was a gambling game where you could increase the odds of winning by inserting multiple amounts of nickles, dimes, quarters giving you a choice of patterns on the glass back board where you could move around to match the position of the balls...just to give an idea of the game. Pay outs given to the winners!

I used to service and maintain many of these in Alaska prior to them being illegal.

I guess it takes a particular brain to "dissecate" words -usually in a foreing language- and make them look (sound?) totally different ! It's allways been one or my favorite game...

Take for example "butterfly": have you ever thought that it was in fact a fly wich grows in (or likes) butter ? Not as poetic anymore, isn't it ?

...another one i love is "picknickers" ! I can't use that word without imaginating lots of people in the fields, collecting panties in the grass !!! (well, maybe this one is only for british readers, or does the americans use that word too ?)

...there are millions of them, in every language i know -more or less- ! ...let's start a "silly" thread about that... could be funny, no ?

I LOVE to play Pinball! I dream of getting an old machine that goes *ding ding*....not the *newer* electronic ones. My cousin has one in her basement, I sometimes play it, but it's the newer kind....not as much fun.

I used to play the "real" ones when I lived in Nashville TN. For whatever reason that was the only legal gambling allowed there way back when. I also played them in some other places where you had to be more discrete... Obviously I didn't do too well as I had to keep working to pump money into them.

Much more often I played the non-gambling kind with flippers.

Whew...for a while there I was beginning to believe I was older than dirt, like the last living dinosaur. I also played them in some other places where you had to be more discrete... Well yes, seems like they weren't located in the "upper class" joints  , but then I've never had much fun in those stiff collar places anyway. ;) Much more often I played the non-gambling kind with flippers. Yup same here and popping quarters (3 plays) in the Seeburg Juke with 45's.

I grew up on pinball...I can hold my own against any pro to this day. Several years ago I bought a 1975 Williams Toledo. It made a great "bank" with all the quarters we put in it. I'd love to have another machine.

When I went to college (in MO), We had a couple pin ball machines down the hall from my room, how convenient. My friend and I played one of those machines so much they had to replace the bumpers at least once a month! We also figured out how to play for FREE! :D Just set one leg on an ash tray, and off ya went, for endless hours or pin ball fun. Hmmmm....classes and homework began to suffer. Eventually they quit fixing our machine.....

Hey Sam..You bet ya..although it's not easy to find a good pinball machine any more..most places just have the boring video games.
But, all I need is a few minutes of "warm up" to get to know the machine and I can be a Pinball Wizard
