This is another Ebay bargain, only $46!
I've attached the photo from the Ebay sale so you can see what the lens looks like. Its an early autofocus with solid metal construction and zooms internally - i.e. the length does not change when zooming.
Tried a shot against the light on a grey day and am pleased to report that there's no C.A. despite the lens being designed many years before digital sensors
- hooray for cheap Tokinas say I.

Here's another, facing the other way (weak light behind me) still at 1/750th f9.5 but this time at 210mm and ISO1600.

Nice shots Robin and the lens looks great.
However I won't expect any CA at f/9.5. Try shooting tree branches against the sky at f/4.5 and I bet you get the CA at its best ;)

Narrow boats like that were the standard method of moving coal, grain and other heavy stuff on the canal network until rail & road took over, yes people did live on them. Now they are mostly used for weekend cruising, have the interior cargo area converted to living quarters, but some people live on them all the time.
Have a look at http://www.canaljunction.com/narrow_boat/holiday_hire.htm

It does seem I will have to find a better (more recently designed?) lens for birds though......
