Simply amazing comments from someone I've trusted and respected for many years now. The D2x will be my next camera. So much for wishing for a Nikon full frame. Looks like we'll never miss it. .

Certainly a very interesting review - will we ever catch up? DSLR technology is still moving forward very fast and only those who earn a living from their cameras (or rich amateurs) can afford to stay at the head of the game. Buy a D2x now and you'll be wanting something newer in less than 2 year's time.

Looking forward to seeing pics from Nikon's new flagship on this forum soon - at least there are plenty of good photographers here, some places on the net feature abysmal shots taken with the latest gear!

Cheers, Robin

and according to Bjorn Rorslett, if you have mediocre lenses or if you're not a competent photographer, the D2x will show up your shortcomings fast!

$4800 isn't that bad really. I've spent $3400 in the last 2 years on two S2's. I'm just glad I didn't jump ship for the 1Ds or 1D before Nikon got this camera out. Looks to be a camera you could settle in with for more than a few years.

Hey Mike, where'd you see $4800?

Just curious!

Pixmania has it listed as being available end of March for £3429 - that's $6594!
You yanks always get better prices :)

Exactly Robin, It may be worth taking a trip to NY to buy one from B&H !

If I buy a camera that big Steve I'd expect it to take 120 film! - just sold my S2 'cos I found it too big...

Cheers, Robin :)

Thought the estimated street price was $4850, but I see B&H has $4999 listed. What did you pay for yours Melody?

$4999.00 with credit card, I think it's $4800 on another list I'm on, whoever gets it first I'll go with for $200 I'm not waiting :)

This happens every time Nikon releases their new flagship model. I'd be willing to bet that the price will be closer to $4800 than $5000 when they hit the shelves.

An update was provided to the review today in a comparison with the Canon 1dsII

Very interesting comparison, finds me the right time I was up to choose between N and C flagships. I'll be very happy to stay in the Nikon barraks, just waiting to see a test by forum members (and an S2-S3-D2x comparison if possible) :righton:

Very Interesting Melody, I didn't expect the D2x to be THIS good...

I think I'll take a CF card in to a store and shoot some of my own files of both the C N and Fuji...

Could end up being very costly...
