I pulled my Compactflash out of my S2 without depressing the button and now the button is stuck in and I can't insert the card anymore. Am I looking at a trip to the shop?

This is purely a guess as i've never had it happen to me .
have you tried re-inserting the card Jacqui to see if the button goes down again?
Apart from that i'd try to get a pair of long nosed pliars on it to see if that would do it , can't see you doing much harm , theres no springs or such , must be a lever at the base that the card activates i'd have thought .

Jacqui,
this might be an easy repair, but I'd suggest to visit the shop instead of trying to fix it yourself. There are lots of tiny contacts, levers, other fragile thingies in the CF slot....
Just to be on a safe side :)

Is the button still "out" as if a card is still in there? If it is, press it back in and you should be able to put a card back in. Otherwise, I'm not sure. I'm also not sure how you got the card out without using the button...... :)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm sorry I haven't responded but my factory has been burgled and the *******s have taken all my Macs out of my studio, not to mention damage.
Anyway, I've tried all the suggestions – the button is stuck in, Swampy – but with no luck. I'll put a call in to the Fuji Camera Repair Division today to see if they can help me.

And to think the D2X was due tomorrow .......
And we've finally got some snow as well ......
