View Full Version : Wedding Problems? Not!

After reading here, and learning as usual, I heard nothing but problems when shooting weddings and losing highlights and all kinds of other issues. My good friend got married a couple of weekends ago and I decided to shoot the whole thing just for fun, and unpaid. He already had a pro there (same one that shot my wedding in fact). After going through them all (over 300 shots), I was VERY pleased with my results. I tried to keep in mind to try and shoot slightly underexposed while outside in the bright sun, and to make sure I didn't shoot too clost to the bride and her white dress or to turn the flash down if I did shoot close. Worked out great in my opinion and they were like, "we spent how much for our photographer?". So made me feel good that compared to when the photograper shot at my wedding and whey they (and I) saw from my shots, they liked mine better. We'll see how the photographers shots come out in a few more weeks when they're delivered.

Reminder to people who will shoot a wedding who haven't shot one yet: Remember the dress is EVERYTHING. Make sure you get the whole dress as much as possible! Crop out later if you need to. I kept forgetting about the dress and about 10% of the shots I took have the bottom of the dress cut out. :(

Here's one shot:

And here's one where I toned the flash down a bit.

Do my eyes decieve me or is that a old english red telephone box the're rarer than hens teeth over here . You can see the royal mail crown on the top . How did you yanks get your hands on it. really !! first our women , then our history (in films anyway), now or phone boxes , is nothing safe . tell me it was filmed in england, and make me happy.

seriously, good picture, the red has come out about right , which is something a lot of fuji cameras find hard to do, it tends to hit you between the eyes ,if you know what i mean.
bye for now . what would you like next. our beefeaters , the dome , london bridge. oh sorry you've bought that already.

Sorry Sandman... It IS one of your booths, and again, sorry, it wasn't taken in England. Heck, I believe the where it was taken was also built in England. I'm probably wrong, but what the heck, it sounds right.

It was taken on the deck of the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA.

Thanks for the compliments, and sorry we have so much of Englands "stuff" over here. I guess you can think of it this way... If someone else wants it, it must have been good.

i'd forgotten about the queen mary, so it was in a part of england after all ? , you might like to know i was born in southampton overlooking the queen mary's berth (i don't remember it but my mum told me) just after the war.

going back to your picture, i would guess you under exposed by one maybe two stops, to get the detail in the dress ,and slightly saturate the colours,(english spelling)

i find the internet incredable,in that we can talk about cameras ,trips ,and make jokes about our nationalities. all without having a clue who we're talking to

sorry i'm rambling. bye for now
