Hi everyone,

The only solution on a battery tray search on the forum came up with a Canadian source email, anyone know of a US vendor for the S2 trays?

Thanks for the help!

I just tried several search engines and didn't find anything about a replacement battery trays. Who did you find in Canada?

Best regards,
Randy

In Toronto try; Downtown Camera (416 363-1749 - or www.downtowncamera.com) and Henry's (416 868-0872 or www.henrys.com) both sell battery trays. So does Vistek (www.vistek.ca) I have 2 spares both purchased from Downtown at around $12cdn each. Your mileage may vary.

I'm not ever going to order any battery trays. After 400 to 500 pictures I'm TIRED I'll gladly sit down and take time out to change the batteries in the tray.

:) :) :) :)

I agree! I remember the HORRIBLE old days when old-fashioned photographers HAD TO CHANGE FILM every 36 exposures. Oh! the drudgery of 24 exposure film! I nearly blew my brains out when I had to shoot a job with 8 exposure rolls of film. My 4x5 camera requires ****ing the shutter, adjusting the aperture, pulling the slide, tripping the shutter, inserting the slide, opening the back, pulling the holder, flipping it around, inserting the holder, ---- every single exposure! By hand!

I know the Fuji S2 is a super automatic expensive camera, and I'll be darned if I will lift a finger to do anything for it. I will be hiring an assistant to load batteries for me. I will have my assistant hire someone to put the neck strap over my head, and put my finger on the button. Maybe I will even look through the viewfinder if I can find the motivation. I don't want to work too hard at this - I paid good money for some automation here.

When will all this get easy?

BELIEVE THIS.....had a weekend off from weddings and was invited to on that was a friend of the family. The wedding photographer, whom I knew, searched me out at the reception. Seems he had to change the batteries during the formals, when he sat down, fumbled around after dropping some of the batteries, (I don't recall if he said it was the spent or the fresh batteries), someone in the wedding party, asked him why he didn't have a fresh set loaded into a tray ready to go and 'save us all some time'. The photographer told me he didn't even know he could buy an extra tray. DUH!!!!! It's amazing what a saavy consumer can learn on the internet. You can bet there was a tray ordered as soon as he found one available.

Tom,

WOW ... GREAT IDEA. I'll be the hit of the convention I'm going to shoot!!!

Cue the Announcer from the boxing matches in that big voice ...

ANDDDDDDDDDD..... Here is our photographer ... Kevin Russell

AND strolling along with him is:

Cindy, The Battery Tray Changer

Kandi, The Microdrive Swapper

Ohhh... don't forget Karen with those pesky CR123's and AA's for that SB-80DX too

All here just to take picture for the next 3 days!

Announcer finished .... :D

So anyway, I have the honor of photographing the PPA (Professional Photographers Association) Convention in Las Vegas this year, July 27,28,29.

Anyone from here attending?

And the only woman helping me out on this gig is my bride, no out of work showgirls!

Take care,

Congratulations Kevin! I'm not going but maybe I'll see the shots sometime. Make good use of the trays, despite what those other guys say!

Seriously, I like having trays. I don't use CR123s - so I go through AAs much faster. Even when I am outdoors shooting flowers or scenics I still use trays. I hate dropping batteries and I seem to always drop one when I'm in tall grass. On location the dropped battery always seems to find the heaviest piece of office equipment to roll under. (The wall safe or the ancient mainframe)

I do use assistants but I'd rather they aren't spending their time (and my dollar) fishing batteries out from underneath furniture.

However, Cindy to change trays, Lola to change CF cards, Mitzy to wipe the sweat off my brow and Mongo to haul all the heavy stuff .... now this has a certain appeal!!:) ;)

I need more AAs - any suggestions?

My last ones were Ansmann 1800ma - they charged pretty quick, and used to last for a lot of shots, but less than a year later they are starting to act up ( they are conditioned regularly).

So I am looking for batteries and a charger (1 hr is a must).

Your thoughts???

Hi LW,

I have 7 sets of iPowerUS batteries. They have 2110 minimum mAh printed on the battery, advertised as 2100's and have worked really well. If you plug in "ipower" on eBay you'll get several ads with chargers as well.

www.thomas-distributing.com has a wide asortment of batteries, chargers etc. They are reliable and they ship fast. www.tallyns.com sells the PowerEx. But thomas sells them cheaper and they ship faster too. I've had good luck with the PowerEx 2000. Rechargables now up to 2300, and by the time you read this they might be up even higher. Fast chargers too, although I've read some comments that the faster you charge them, the hotter they get and shortens the lifespan. I'm also one that wants the batteries charged in my case and not the charger.

Dear Steve,

What do you mean saying you want your battaries charged in your "case" and not in a charger? :monalisa:

Should have said, " charged and in my camera case, and not charging in my charger" Sorry for the confusion.
