Looking forward to hearing about the pros and cons.

Ime so close to getting a SLR/n but for the next few weeks I will wait and see if the D2x does anything for the Kodak prices and with Focus on Imaging and the NEC at the end of Feb there might be some announcements on new DSLRs. Ime impressed with the Kodak site, RAW files and a free converter to work with - very customer friendly.

As its the only 6 ISO F mount at the moment that means so much to me. I hardly ever use my S2 without the tripod and ime dying to have some misty smooth water shots for my B&W work. But with ISO 100 min, a real pain.

The real question is, are they really as good as evryone says. I know thats a strange thing to ask, but brand loyalty is often a big part of peoples answers, especially when thay have parted with £3500. I do the same and tell people that my Land Rover is the best 4x4 in the world !!.(Well it is)

So, the real issue is, after selling my Mamiya 7 last year, will I get as good as that with a SLR/n ?

So many decisions,

Nigel

Hi Nigel,
Yes, you will love the quality of the SLRn compared to the Mamiyas. It totally blows away the RB's and stays with the RZ's also for image quality.
It is limited to use up to 400 for noise unless you apply Neat Image at higher ISO's and then it cleans right up.
It does get some moire at times due to it's lack of an AA filter but I have never not been able to clean it up.
Tight tolerance on exposure is the key with the SLRn.
You expose it right and it will reward you with remarkable photos.
I do love the RZ67's still but find the SLRn the closest replacement to MF.
As far as brand loyalty. I have Hasselblad, Mamiya, Nikon F4 and D70 and the SLRn and a Leica to boot. Love the Leica lenses. To bad they don't fit the Nikon based bodies.
I'm pretty much convinced ALL the equipment out there is good in the hands of a skilled photographer.
If you have any questions let me know.

Not the most thrilling subject matter.
Heres a comparison of some bathroom sets that were done on both cameras.
I may have playes with the levels on the Kodak one, but both shots were unsharpened.
My DSC14N is for studio and commercial location, only.
It wont see the beach or shoot over 100asa.
This shoot was the deciding factor that made me purchase it.
Some clients want hi quality life size point of purchase displays, etc., and if my stuff is soft, they will move on.
I also like the shallower depth of field for selective focus and more real estate in the viewfinder for critical focus.
I still love my S2pro and will use it for the majority of my shooting.

Some afterthots.
I havent had time to really play with the Kodak as Im a new Doggie Daddy and I had to purchase a card reader for download, install software, firmware, bomb computers, extension manager, more ram for the iBook and all the resultant nightmares that come with new toys, so bear with me.
We may have shifted positions slightly between the 2 shots as duck cup angle has slightly changed.
The shoot:
The S2Pro was at the 35 lense spot on the 35-70 Nikkor.
My 35-70 AF non Dis a really sharp lens!
So is the 50 1.8 AFD!
All in all, I think its a good step upward for small camera digital quality.
