Sorry folks,
Me again with another seemlying silly question. What is the difference between the 70-200mm and the 80-200mm lens for the S2.
Is one better than the other? or is one just 10mm better than the other?
Sorry if this question sounds daft, just wondering...

ColiN, the BIG difference is VR (image stabilization).
Besides 70-200 is a new optical formula which is very good even wide open.
80-200 of the latest series (AF-S) is equally good optically though.

HI Colin, I've got the above lens for sale. It's currently at FFordes being serviced. They have value it at £700 for a commision sale which means they add on whatever to sell on their site/shop and give me the £700. So you can have it for the same plus postage if you require. I'm based in Preston and Manchester if you are at all interested. I think Igor would vouch for it's qualities?
As shown in the photo there is a tiny tiny mark on the front element, which I can assure you, and Ffordes, doesn't make any difference to image quality at all, but hence I'm asking half the original value for it. It comes with hood and leather case as seen.

Front element knicks are usually not a problem. I have a 50mm CZ lens for my Hasselblads that has a pretty good sized knick in the front element and you cannot tell it is there at all in the pictures. If you do have trouble then it is usually a little flare. If that is the case a touch of flat black paint will eliminate it. You can find the best paint at most astronomical telescope shops. It is the rear element of the lens that is critical and should be free of knicks and scratches.
