check around, the buzz is Nikon dropped the price of the D2h with goodies to an even $2000US.
Guess they want to get what they can for them before the D2x arrives.
If I had any kind of action stuff to shoot i would look very hard at this.

the price dropped everywhere except here in Canada according to Rob Galbraith's site
many D2H owners seem to be royally PO'ed about Nikon's price lowering move however, as it also means a lower resale value; looks like many saw the cam more as an investment than a working tool ("...my camera lost 1500$ in vvalue in one day..."), check dpreview - the people went ballistic over there yesterday
But realistically seen, the D2H wasn't really up to par with the competition with the big scary C; and a 4Mpix camera at 3200USD is a hard sell nowadays, especially with a sort-of replacement like the D2x just around the corner; could also mean that an updated D2H MK2 might be heading to a press release near you ;) - just speculating

Chris

Not in the UK, lowest price is £2069 and Nikon UK say they have no plans to reduce it. Which makes me feel a little happier as I only bought mine a month ago. :(

WOW ! Check this price for $1,109 body only at: http://royalcamera.com/nikd2hprodig.html
sounds to good to be true. I hope no one is jumping off of any buildings because they bought this camera last month at the much higher price.

and order that thing at that price... see if you can get it without a call telling you it's gray-market or not the 'US' model and doesn't come with a sensor or something silly...

Royal is an awful retailer. I think it's epinions that rate them almost non-existant for service. I'll try to post a write-up I'd made on them a while ago. (gotta find it)
ROFL on "doesn't come with sensor"

Yeah you gotta watch out for them. This is what I encounterd back when I was shopping for my S2 with them. I didnt know about user ratings till after the fact. I ended up using Adorama, paid more and actually felt better about it. Night and day between them and Royal. Now that I know there is Jason de Counter boy then next time I have a purchase I'll give him a call. Good luck with your purchas PTex. This is my old RoyalCamera letter that was posted on a ton of forums/epinions and so on. July03

This is the type of service I received from www.RoyalCamera.com. I
had made my call on 6/25/2003 to get some information. The operator
that helped me sounded like a kid with a little attitude. I looked
passed it and figured he was a little off. They had the price listed
at $1120 (give or take a buck) I asked how they could get the prices
so low? Remove contents? He claimed all contents came in the body
package and nothing was removed from the box. They buy in volumes of
50 thousand pieces at a time was his explanation. (that is a huge
unrealistic number, I figured he's of by a zero or two) I was ready
to make my purchase on the following day and this is what happened
when I reached the same operator.
6/26/2003 (noon)
Operator: Hello
Myself: Hi is this the camera department?
Operator: Yes this is the camera department.
(Long pause)
Myself: Yeah, I called yesterday on a camera and I had a question on
it.
Operator: (hastily) Which camera?
Myself: The Fuji S2, you had it listed at $1120~ I called you and ask
questions regarding the contents. I logged on to the site today to
make a purchase It jumped up an additional $400 today on the website.
Operator: (smart-ass) You should have bought it yesterday. Today its
$1500, would you like a flash card with it?
Myself: What? No I'm curious as to why the hefty increase?
Operator: That was the price yesterday, this is the price today.
Myself: My I speak to a supervisor?
Operator: No
Myself: What is your name?
Operator: I'm not telling you
Myself: What? Why?
Operator: Because your screwing with me
Myself: What?? How am I screwing with you?
Operator: Your trying to screw with me and get yesterdays price.
Myself: Nooo I'm asking questions and your not answering them. Did
you sell 40,000 to get the price up? I'm not buying the camera now
but your giving me an attitude,..
Operator: Well your trying to screw with me.
Myself: Bye
I called back and made my complaint to the manager, (I think his name
was Ron). He was very monotone and was pretty ho hum about the
incident. He explained that the shipping prices for that order had
come in higher that in the past. I asked him over a period of less
then 24hours? He proceeded to tell me that the camera was now $1500
and it's still a good price. I told him my concern for the call was
not to make a purchase but issue a complaint about the service with
his company.
Truth, At this point I'm glad the purchase didn't go through. By
placing an order with this company, I can't help but think what a can
of worms I may have opened. I could only imagine.
I'll still purchase my S2 and can't wait. I'm excited, however this
$1500+ dollars is going somewhere else. I also believe in spreading
the word on bad service so it's getting posted on message boards and
send to www.royalcamera.com as well.

Hay! I was just showing that there are other stores with lower prices then the $2000 dollar price tag. I didn't think it would create such a fury of responses. :) Thanks for the heads up on Royal, I'll make sure and not buy ANYTHING fron them in the future.
Remember . . . buyer beware.

Well, after playing with a D2h, I decided to trade my s2 for one. I thought long and hard about giving up mega pixels but I'm happy with my decision. The build, speed, focus, and flash (with sb-800) are incredible.

Ruffles,
I had the same decison to make. So I looked at the S3 and the D2H. I got the S3. Please post some D2H images, especially with the multiple flash!

Well, I could only afford 1 SB-800 for now but here is one of my first test shots with it. The cropping is bad but I would have never gotten this pic with my S2. The focus is nearly instant and the FP flash sync let me shoot this at 1/2500" @ f/5.6.

very nice. Did that guy land on your head or what?? :)
There's a reason why Moose Peterson likes that camera so much.

Great shot. Mega pixels, smegipexels. Its all in the quality of the image and that is very nice. Fast is fun too!
Sorry for my late response. I hate it when work gets in the way of my fun.
