I'm new to the S2 and recently I get a "Read Error" when I delete a image that has been committed to the flash card. This happens intermittenly. I'm using a SanDisk 1 gig CF card. The 1 gig compact flash card has been formatted correctly. Anyone out there experience a similar problem? Rockett8

OK, I think I figured this out myself- which is amazing in itself. So if anyone has this trouble- here's the deal.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE CF CARD TO BOTH A MAC & A PC WITHOUT RE-FORMATTING THE CARD EACH TIME. There you have it....Simple! (I hope) Rockett8

so you think that you cannot get fotos both into mac and pc, just to the either one.
i use micro drive 1gb and i have downloaded first to other and then to other machine, but i do it from camera. after downloading i always format the drive in camera.
is there some difference between cards and drives when moving files to computers?

I don't have trouble downloading to either PC or the Mac-it's just when I put the CF card back in the camera and want to continue shooting and then try to delete a image- only then do I get a "read error" window, and the camera locks up. I have not been downloading directly from the camera as of yet. I think if I keep downloading from the card reader to different computers(PC&Mac) I will need 2 seperate CF cards. How's your Microdrive holding up? Thanks, Rockett

so if i got you right, english is not my mother lanquage, you are not formating card after downloading it to computer but deleting individual fotos from it. if that so, why. i always format the whole disk after that. and disk has been working fine, so far. just some 6k taken, but ok. i like it and maybe thats the reason why i don't want to take it away from camera, i will not drop it. here card is much better, but i'm not sure how card will like to be touched with fingers, those golden parts?
about why it will not work on multi-pcs, one answer could be that mac is making an extra folder on a disk. that i know from zip disk from home mac to work pc and there is one invisible extra folder. have you noticed if there is changes when you download first to mac or pc? just thinking. if you try to do it from camera, usb/firewire. i like firewire strait to pc and after that burn to cd, this has made my workflow faster than earlier usb to mac. though my mac is just g3 350 so its like slow and pc is 1giga and nice to work like EX and so, but when it comes to dtp - mac is my machine ;-)
