Photo shop brush

I do a lot of printing. Canon 9000s,Adobe 7, and of course my S2
images. When I am working on an image the brush tool is a perfect circle that I vary in size and intensity. That is the tool I like. I can see it on the screen and can control what I want it to do. SUDDENLY it changes to a barely visible cross hair. I can not figure out why it changes, or how to get the circle tool back. It is driving me nuts.

Check if the Caps Lock on- it shoud not be.

Dear Mr. Kaplan,
I cannot thank you enough for the info you gave me about "brush tool" As I am always typing in Frame numbers (in caps) DSCF etc. I never suspected that would change the shape of brush tool. How did YOU figure it out ?
