I stumbled across this piece of software that may be of use to others. Its an application that allows you to spread your desktop over a second monitor on another computer. I use it when using PS to allow me to have my main monitor with the Image I am editing filling the screen and my palettes on the second screen. I know some people have a dual head graphic card but if you haven't and have a second PC or laptop you can network to your main machine (it can be an old one as all the processing is done on the main machine) this makes using PS so much more effective. It works without a hitch on my system and is simple to install.

I find dual monitors indespensible for Photoshop work. I use a calibrated LaCie CRT for my main color critical main window, and a space saving LCD for all the palettes.
Most Apple towers and PowerBooks can use dual monitors without much fuss. There is even cheap software (free?) that allows for dual monitor use (extended desktop) with Apple computers that are supposedly only able to mirror a second monitor. (iBooks, eMacs (?))

keep the non picture on the laptops LCD and the picture on the external monitor. Win2k and XP will do this without any additional software.
